    Social Action Forum Irinjalakuda (SAFI) is the official social work and development agency of the Catholic Diocese of Irinjalakuda. It was established in 1978 and registered under the Twelfth Travancore – Cochin Literacy, Scientific and Charitable Societies Act XII of 1955, vide Registration No. 166/83 dated 10th August 1983.

    SAFI functions in 134 parishes of the diocese spread over area of 1180 sq. km, for the sustainable development of the society with a special focus on the weaker sections of the community irrespective of caste and creed or gender. It envisages a society where the resources available in the society are accessible to everybody by which an integrated development of the individual will be realized.     It was in the year 1978 that Irinjalakuda diocese was erected bifurcating Thrissur Diocese and Msgr. James Pazhayattil was appointed as the bishop of the new diocese.
